Introduction

INFLIBNET Centre has been organizing international convention CALIBER every year in different parts of the country in collaboration with different universities. CALIBER is acronym for Convention on Automation of Libraries in Education and Research Institutions. This is the premier convention in India which provides a unique forum to the library and information professionals, teachers, IT professionals, consultants and users involved in automation and networking of libraries as well as information providers to come together and interact on the subjects of mutual interest. The thirteenth CALIBER in the series, and fourth international event for the year 2006 has been themed as “Dynamic Interoperable Web based Information Systems” and will be hosted by Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, Karnataka state during February 2-4, 2006. The official language of the convention will be English.

 

   

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are

  • To highlight and enhance the dynamics of the interoperable web information system.

  • To help to share experiences of professionals in the areas of automation and networking.

  • To enable the participants to understand the latest developments in the field.

  • To study the technological issues involved in web based systems and their usefulness to the users.

  • To serve as a ground to exchange ideas related to associated technologies covering e-information, standards and applications in Libraries.

The convention provides unique opportunity to the following

University librarians and their professional colleagues, Academicians and researchers looking for enhanced access facility, Professionals working in the areas of Web based information systems, digital information management, digital libraries, networking, globalization, localization, development and deployment of technical solutions, globalization of software and Internet.

The convention will also witness cross-disciplinary participation by library and information professionals, policy makers, managers, software engineers, systems analysts, content developers, web designers, web administrators, technical writers, information scientists, knowledge managers, electronic publishers, content developers and product marketing personnel. Students of library, information and computer sciences are also encouraged to attend the event.
