CALIBER-2007
CALIBER (Convention on Automation of Libraries in
Education and Research Institutions) is an international convention, organized
every year by INFLIBNET Centre in different parts of the country in
collaboration with different universities. This is the premier convention in
India which provides a unique forum to the library and information
professionals, teachers, IT professionals, consultants and users involved in
automation and networking of libraries as well as information providers to come
together and interact on the subjects of mutual interest. The twelfth CALIBER in
the series, for the year 2007, has been themed as "Information
and Knowledge Management in Networked World" and will be hosted by
Panjab University, Chandigarh during February 8-10, 2007.
The official language of the convention will be English.
Objectives

To highlight and enhance the issues related to
digital libraries and knowledge
management

To help and to share
experiences of professionals in the areas of automation,
digitization, knowledge management and networking.

To study the relevance of innovations in information
communications technologies in academic environment

To explore the issues
involved in web based systems and their usefulness to the
users.

To serve as a ground to
exchange ideas related to associated technologies covering
digital libraries, knowledge management, standards and applications in Libraries
and
Information Centres

To enable the participants to
understand the latest developments in the respective
area.
Intended Audience
The goal of the CALIBER-2007 is to provide an international forum for library
professionals, research scholars, teachers in academia, industry, and government
to address recent research results and to present and discuss their ideas,
theories, technologies, systems, tools, applications, work in progress and
experiences on all theoretical and practical issues arising in information,
knowledge and service integration.
The convention will also witness cross-disciplinary
participation by library and information professionals, policy makers, managers,
software engineers, systems analysts, content developers, web designers, web
administrators, technical writers, information scientists, knowledge managers,
electronic publishers, content developers and product marketing personnel.
Students of library, information and computer sciences are also encouraged to
attend the event.

The convention will strive to
bring out the latest technological solutions and trends to the professionals
managing localization and digital information in this new economy. In addition,
it will generate new concepts and ideas for implementing the
